UsAbout Us

Based at the University of Michigan, NCIBI was founded in September 2005 as one of seven National Centers for Biomedical Computing (NCBC) in the NIH
Roadmap
. By integrating vast amounts of diverse, multi-scale data, the Center develops and disseminates tools for molecular biomedical research from a systems biology perspective. These bioinformatics resources help guide experiments and enable new insights derived from the analysis of complex diseases.

Organization and Strategy

NCIBI is composed of biomedical researchers, computational biologists, computer scientists, developers, and human-computer interaction specialists organized into seven major core functions. Working collaboratively, these interdisciplinary teams develop powerful, relevant tools that enable biomedical researchers to build computational and knowledge models of biological systems, validated through disease-specific studies.
